• Co-founded the Innovate Raleigh initiative, a catalyst for innovation, entrepreneurship and job creation in our region
  • Led the charge to relocate Citrix / Sharefile to Raleigh's Warehouse District, creating hundreds of high-quality jobs and transforming the Warehouse District
  • Worked on short-term and long-term solutions to address issues of homelessness, resulting in the creation of the Oak City Outreach Center and Oak City Cares, a multi-service center to support our homeless community
  • Advocated for one-cent tax increase dedicated to affordable housing initiatives
  • Spearheaded the creation of Raleigh's Economic Development Office to create new jobs and help existing companies grow and expand here (Raleigh named #3 Best City for Young Entrepreneurs)
  • Directed creation of City of Raleigh Retail Task Force to address retail diversity and recruitment
  • Created Communications Task Force to advise City Council and staff on marketing communications efforts that will help us better tell the "Raleigh story"
  • Worked with Dr. James West (now a Wake County Commissioner) on a collaborative effort called Youth Thrive, which focuses on gang prevention and youth success
  • Drove efforts to reduce speeding in our neighborhoods through the creation of a new anti-speeding pilot program (research and creative completed as a class project by students at UNC-Chapel Hill)
